Members' communities@rics web-space - Terms of Use

Please note that use of the communities@rics web-space is subject to these terms of use and you should read these carefully. You are treated as accepting them by accessing or using the site for any purpose.

Use of the communities@rics web-space carries legal responsibilities. Messages which include offensive, untrue or illegal content, or even expressions of opinion about others, can lead to claims against you and possible criminal offences. Whilst you must comply with the specific terms of use below, you should only post messages to communities that you would be comfortable including in a written letter to every RICS member and every other person who may see a copy. You agree to indemnify RICS in full for any loss it suffers as a result of any breach of these terms of use by you or with your authority.

Access to the communities@rics web-space is by invitation only (referred to in these terms as "Members").

If, having accessed the communities@rics web-space, you see a message that breaches these terms of use, please notify the Community Manager and we will investigate the matter.

  1. Your use of the communities@rics web-space
    1. Only Members may use the communities@rics web-space, and only for the purpose of Professional Group or Forum related matters and in accordance with these terms of use.
    2. You may print a copy of the messages posted on the communities@rics web-space provided it is for your own legal personal and non-commercial purposes, and otherwise in accordance with these terms of use.
    3. In using the communities@rics web-space you agree to licence RICS and its group companies to reproduce in any format and at any place worldwide the contents of any posted material for any business purpose in perpetuity.
  2. What you are not allowed to do
    1. You must not enter the communities@rics web-space under another Member's registration details or by misrepresenting your identity or status. Anyone using your password will be deemed to be doing so with your full authority and you will be liable for their use of the communities@rics web-space as if they were you.
    2. You must only use the communities@rics web-space for lawful purposes and you must comply with all applicable laws, statutes and regulations. You must not post any content which is untrue, defamatory, pornographic, obscene, threatening, menacing, harassing, racist, offensive or otherwise unlawful, nor post any links to any web sites or other materials which include any such content. Also, you must not include content which was created by anyone other than you, or which includes any personal details about anyone other than you, without that person's full authority. In these terms of use, references to "content" includes all text and all attachments and other files posted including graphics, photographs, videos, programs or audio.
    3. You must not knowingly or with reasonable belief post a message containing a virus or other code which has a similar effect.
    4. You may not remove or change anything on the communities@rics web-space, or post any content which suggests it is authorised or endorsed, or posted, by RICS.
    5. You must not use the communities@rics web-space to:
      1. display any information in breach of any intellectual property rights or in breach of confidence or privacy;
      2. download any information posted by another user that you know, or reasonably should know cannot lawfully be copied or otherwise used;
      3. post advertisements or offers to sell goods or services; or
      4. collect and process others' personal data.
      5. post messages which potentially bring into disrepute RICS, it’s Firms or Members or staff or in any way may damage RICS brand or reputation or that of it’s Firms or Members or staff.
  3. RICS accepts no obligation to monitor the use of the communities@rics web-space
    1. RICS accepts no obligation to monitor the use of the site but reserves the right to do so. RICS also reserves the right to remove without notice, and without reason, any information or material posted, including any that is in breach of these terms of use.
    2. RICS may disclose any information about you and any content posted by you as required by law or in connection with any criminal or other investigation and may remove, refuse to post or to edit any information or materials, may block your access and may take such other action as may be reasonably necessary to prevent any breach of these terms of use or any breach of applicable law or regulation.
    3. RICS will in its absolute discretion fully co-operate with law enforcement and other relevant authorities with respect to any investigation of suspected unlawful activity.
  4. Privacy Policy and other terms and conditions
    1. Your use of the communities@rics web-space is governed by RICS General Terms and Conditions of Use, which can be found at http://www.rics.org/termsconditions.htm
    2. Your personal details will be used in accordance with the RICS Privacy Policy for Members, which can also be found at http://www.rics.org/termsconditions.htm
